Synopsis

Recently widowed, Harriet Smith ( Pauline Collins ) moves to Dublin with her two sons. She has to balance the demands of public and professional responsibility with her private needs as a woman and mother. The Ambassador's job as troubleshooter for Britain takes her into a sinister and dangerous world of drugs, corruption, scandal and crime - a world far removed from the cocktail parties of Downing Street. Harriet is surrounded by deception and mistrust both inside and outside the Embassy walls and there are many who would like to see her fail.
