Synopsis

Harriet Smith has to call on her trouble-shooting skills, and increasingly rely on the dark talents of the Embassy's intelligence agent, John Stone ( Denis Lawson ), to avoid plunging both her political career and personal life into chaos, In particular the ambassador's political nous is rigorously tested, and her relationship with Stone severely strained when her romance with British businessman Michael Cochrane (Peter Egan) takes her into uncharted waters. Personal crisis and tragedy are high on the agenda and Harriet Smith's faith in her team deeply shaken as John Stone is accused of date rape and her No2, Stephen Tyler ( William Chubb ) is arrested for the murder of his wife. How far will Smith go to protect her reputation as scandal threatens the embassy?
